Winter Olympics

Who will be tuning in much for the Olympics? Also, what events peak your interest the most?

I love watching the bobsled, skeleton, and luge. Also skiing events off all type. I can't imagine what it must be like to do the "long jump", but if I could still ski like I used to I wouldn't care to try it.

Bobsled, skelly, & luge are my faves too...but I really dig the speed skating. I think that's something that could really catch on if there were a full-time league in the US, even if they had to switch over to in-line skates on hardwood/indoor track.

Yeah--those dudes fly...plus it's awesome to see the skill it takes too. Those guys have to hit their marks, keep their form throughout the entire race, or else one guy wrecks the rest of them and a guy that has no business winning it gets the gold...exciting stuff. I liken it to Nascar w/o the cars and since each race is shorter, it works for people w/short attention spans like myself.

How could I forget about the speed skating? I love watching that as well. Man those short track dudes take some spills, and like the Nascar reference, you get the multi car pile ups sometimes. I like long distance speed skating as well. It takes a lot of endurance, and some mental aspect also I would believe.

    Re: Winter Olympics

Canada's women ripped Italy 16-0 and now are up 7-0 after ONE period. Looks like the U.S. Hockey ladies had best pack a lunch if they are planning on taking that Gold away from the defending champs. U.S. beat Switzerland 6-0 yesterday (could have been much worse, but the Swiss goalie had 50 saves-WOW!) Proof that a solid goalie can make things interesting. Our women play Germany today at 1.
